Glam Polish – Gentlemen Prefer Blondes – photos, swatches, review

Hi folks!

In Germany we had some sun this weekend, so I decided to go holo for this posting!

Today I’m showing you Glam Polish Gentlemen Prefer Blondes from the Love Marilyn Collection that came out this year. When I ordered this polish I was actually looking for the perfect nude holo for me. CbL Fire Down Below wasn’t it, but this pretty baby here is amazing and I’m so glad I picked it up!

Gentlemen prefer blondes is a rosy peachy nude with a very strong holo effect but also with glassflecks! And since the base colour has a metallic finish this polish also looks bling bling without direct sunlight. I love that!

Application was great, two easy coats was all I needed. The pictures below show two coats plus HK girl fast drying top coat. The wear was excellent, I had no problems with chipping or tip wear for 3 days. Removal was also easy. Very happy with this one!

I bought this polish from Harlow & Co but they don’t have it in stock right now :(. It seems to be available from Mei Mei’s Signatures though!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a nice sunday!

Colors by Llarowe – Fire Down Below swatches and review

Hi beauties!

I recently killed some lemmings with an order from NailLand but some were out of stock so I experimented a little – and somehow Colors by Llarowe Fire Down Below from her Summer 2016 collection hopped in my cart. I guess it was because I have a thing for holographic and shimmery nudes lately!

CbL Fire Down Below is an ivory-to-beige scattered holo with a strong multichrome shimmer that mostly shows pink, but also gold and copper. I didn’t really like this colour against my skin tone. Nudes can be really tricky! Something about this colour makes it look grey-ish and green-ish on my nails and not very pretty. Too bad because I actually like it, also on other photos of bloggers wearing it, even though they also have rather pale skin. Oh well! Application was easy, I needed two coats for the results below, and added a coat of HK fastdrying top coat. The wear was great! I got 3 full days without any chipping or tip wear before I took it off.

OPI DS Reflection – swatches and review and #ColorfulOPI

Hi peeps!

In my last post I mentioned already that I had scored a bunch of OPI’s at TK-Maxx recently. The one I’m going to show you today is definitely my favourite of the bunch: DS Reflection and it was only 4,99 EUR, what a bargain! 🙂

The DS in OPI DS Reflection means “Designer Series”. All nail polishes from the DS collections have a silver cap instead of a black one, and they are supposed to be special because they are infused with diamond dust and “dazzle like diamonds”! All DS polishes I own are really pretty and most of them are holographic (I guess this is what OPI means by “diamond dust”). The DS polishes usually cost a little more than polishes from the regular lines.

Lotte and Tine have a very generous giveaway going on which I’m entering with my posting: They are asking for everyone’s summer colour, so here is mine! This polish is the perfect red summer nail polish for me, the holo sparkles are really dazzling in the sun!

Let’s take a look at DS Reflection! OPI itself describes this polish as a rich, glowing ruby. And indeed it is! The base colour is a nice and deep red, and what I love about it is its warm orange-y shimmer that adds some extra depth and uniqueness. And then of course, this polish is packed with scattered holographic particles (or, as OPI puts it, “diamond dust”). The finish is thus a warm-shimmery red with scattered holo. Can you guess what happens when the sun hits it? BAM! But this polish also looks very nice in the shade, with lighter and darker particles giving it a very special look.

The application was very nice, two easy coats was all I needed. It also dries very fast but not very shiny on its own. So, for the glossy effect, I added one coat of aHK girl fast drying top coat. The wear was also good, no early chipping or tip wear. Removal was unproblematic (no staining etc.).
