Illyrian Polish – Gold Lion

Hi beauties!

We had some sun this weekend! That means I was able to take decent photos of my recent manicure: I wore Illyrian Polish Gold Lion and before going into details: I am obsessed with this polish!!

My first encounter with Illyrian Polish was okay but formula-wise not really a moment to remember (Bioluminescent Review). I had ordered two more colours, one of which was Gold Lion, and I am so happy I did! It has been out of stock for a while everywhere, but I finally got hold of a bottle, and it is really really pretty. It is a very cool dark grey base with beautiful warm golden shimmer particles. Love it.

Also, Gold Lion is not camera shy. The shimmer is so so obvious and in your face – and every single picture I took of this polish looked great. Seriously, this almost never happens! I didn’t have to search for the right angle or lighting to make the shimmer pop, it is just sitting right there, waiting to be drooled over!

The application was okay, not great, a little thick, but managable. For me, I felt like using more polish than usual made it easier and the second coat made everything come together and look nice and opaque. The polish dries a little bit dull, so adding a top coat is a must if you are aiming to achieve the shiny look from the pictures below. I wore this for one and a half days before it started chipping.

Illyrian Polish – Bioluminescent swatches and review

Hi all!

This is an indie brand debut for my blog: I’m going to show you the first polish I bought from Illyrian Polish, a small but successful indie brand from Houston, Texas owned by Vanessa. Actually, I had planned to tell you a little more about the brand, but none of my attempts to contact Vanessa and ask her some questions were successful. 😦

Illyrian Polish is making gorgeous unique shimmer nail polishes, which is why I fell in love with this brand. So far I have tried 3 Illyrian Polishes: Bioluminescent, You Know Nothing, Jon Snow and Gold Lion.

Bioluminescent from the Eerie Woodlands Collection is a light purple jelly base with a strong blue shimmer. It is quite sheer (jelly!) so 3-4 coats is necesarry, if you wish to wear this on its own. The application is also tricky, the consistency of the polish is pretty thick and goopy, and dragging is a big problem which is why a lot of patience is required if you want a nice looking manicure with this. Bioluminescent dries semi-matte, so I added a layer of HK girl top coat for the pictures below. The wear was not great, I had major chipping after a day. So for me personally, even though this is a beautiful and vibrant polish, I had to go through a lot of hassle to achieve a nice looking manicure. If I wear this again I will definitely layer it over a base colour.

In Germany, you can buy Illyrain Polish from Harlow & Co and Color4nails. I bought mine at Color4nails when they had a restock. Illyrian’s own shop does not ship internationally.

Thanks for stopping by and happy Sunday!

Catherine 267 Passionfruit swatches and review

PR sample

Hi beauties!

Today I would like to show you 267 Passionfruit from the Catherine Pacific Collection. Passionfruit is a beautiful deep purple shimmer colour that is right up my alley!

The challenge was to show the polish in a summery scene, which was indeed challenging as the weather has not been very summerlike so far. But I caught a little bit of sunlight recently, and it was worth it to show the shimmer of this beauty! And for the even more summerly look, I tried a floral stamping and I actually liked how it turned out!

Application was great, two easy coats was all I needed. The wear was satisfying, I got 3 full days out of it. Removal was easy (no staining). So, I’m very happy with this polish and will definitely wear it again!

The pics below show Passionfruit in two coats with one coat of HK top coat.

I hope that summer will be here soon – I desperately need some sun! Happy weekend to everyone!

Thank you, Catherine, for providing Passionfruit!
