Polish Us Pink: Pink Potpourri

Hey beauties,

with this posting I’m joining a group of bloggers that raise awareness of Breast Cancer this month. Every monday in october we will post a pink mani in support. Why pink? Pink is the colour generally associated with BCA. Check out the blog of TheSubtleShimmer for more info.

I usually don’t share much personal stuff on this blog. But I have to say that my family has been affected more than once by breast cancer and sometimes it feels like the fighting never stops. So by joining this BCA month with my postings I would like to express my solidarity with all the families out there that are affected by breast cancer as well.

I couldn’t decide which pink polish to show for this Awareness Posting, so I decided to show you all the pinks that I have worn in the last 3 months.

First up is two coats of Barielle Princess topped with one coat of Pretty & Polished Jawbreaker plus top coat. I loved this combo and got lots of compliments for this. The application of Barielle Princess was ok, but I had to be careful not to create bald spots with the second coat. Pretty & Polished Jawbreaker went on really smoothly and lots of glitter ended up on the nail with one coat. I had the bottle upside down for a bit, so it was really easy to also get some of the larger glitters on the nail. I love the colour combination of the different glitter sizes. This comes really close to the perfect glitter nail polish, but I personally would prefer it without the bar glitter. The shape of a bar glitter is kind of disturbing the picture a little. Removal was ok for a glitter polish.

The second pink polish I’d like to show you today is OPI Shanghai Shimmer. I think this OPI colour is from a really old collection (“Far East”), at least I read about it being from 2000? This is a dusty pink with an amazing greenish shimmer that shows well on the nail. The funny thing is that the shimmer appears much cooler toned (almost blueish) in the bottle and I was a little disappointed that it didn’t show up like this on the nails. I had to use three coats for this, but the application was good.

Last but not least: here is my own little creation, I call it “Liaison”. It is a pink base packed with various colours of tiny glitters. Also, you can see a subtle red shimmer effect in the pink base.
“Liaison” basically means three different things and that’s why I thought this would be the perfect name for my creation! It can mean the communication between groups, it can be a love affair, or, the most linguistic one, the special pronunciation of a word-final consonant due to a following vowel sound in French. If you like what you see, check out my other frankens by clicking on the “frankening” tab up in the header!
