the OPI California Dreaming collection is totally speaking to me with all these beautiful nude and pink shades! I have been wanting to try out a few shades for a while now but just never got around to it. Even though this is a Summer collection, I think that the colours are timeless and very wearable throughout the year! So here are my picks from the California Dreaming collection – thank you so much notino.de for sending me these!
I chose the 5 shades you see in the picture below. By the way, I love the names of this collection!
Barking Up the Wrong Sequoia (below) is a warm-toned peachy nude. A little too warm-toned for my skin tone, but still wearable. I think this nude shade is pretty unique! Application was good, I needed two easy coats to achieve full coverage. The polish dried very shiny on its own, but the picture below shows two coats with top coat. I wore this polish two days before it started chipping which is great and removal was not a problem.
Time for a Napa (below) is a bright strawberry coral shade – very unique as well actually! I liked to wear this one a lot! Application was okay, a little streaky but managable. Two coats were needed for full coverage. This one dried very shiny again, but for the pictures below I used a top coat! Wear was great, I took the polish off after 3 days but there was no chipping or tip wear yet! Removal was easy.
Me, Myselfie and I (below) is a very vibrant firetruck red with a hint of a cool undertone. This one had an excellent formula, probably the best out of all of them, very easy to apply and very forgiving. It dried supershiny. The pictures below show two coats with top coat. I got 3 full days of wear out of this, which is great for my standards. I had some staining on my skin when removing it, so be careful and maybe moisturize your cuticles before removing this one!
GPS I love you (below) is a cool-toned raspberry pink – and looks a lot like OPI Strawberry Margarita! The second picture captures the colour a little better than the first one. Application was okay, I had a few bubbles, but they evened out with top coat. I needed two coats for full coverage. This one had a very shiny finish again on its own, but the pics below show the polish with top coat. The wear of this one is great for me, it has been 3 days and I’m still wearing it! Can’t say anything about the removal yet, but I don’t think it will be very problematic.
Malibu Pier Pressure (below) is a very vibrant pink – more vibrant than in the bottle! It is almost a neon, maybe a little bit muted. The colour is not very original though, I think I have 2-3 other polishes that look exactely like this one. The formula was excellent and I needed 2 coats for full coverage. This one, like all the others, dried very shiny on its own, but the pics below show it with top coat. The wear was okay, 2 days before I had to take it off because of chipping.
My favourite from this collection is definitely Time for a Napa! It is such a unique and well-balanced colour, and I felt it looked good on me. But I liked wearing all the other shades as well, even though some were a little too warm-toned (Barking up the Wrong Sequoia) or not very unique (Malibu Pear Pressure). Oh and if you like nail polishes with a jelly finish, this collection will have some colours for you!
When I checked the availability of the collection, I found that notino.de is actually, as far as I can see, so far the cheapest option in Germany. They sell the California Dreaming collection for 9,90 € a bottle, which is a very reasonable price for OPI in Germany! And for all of my international followers: Notino is actually available in 16 countries, so it might be worth checking out for you too!
Pssst: Notino now also has most of the OPI Iceland Collection colours in stock!
Thanks for stopping by! Have you picked up anything from this collection?
