Ever since I saw first pictures of the new Essence colour³ polishes I knew I needed them all. Essence really has brought to us some very nice and unique colours. They all consist of two colours, where one is a sheer top coat for the base colour on the other side.

Now I finally found a drugstore that already has the new product line of Essence and I bought all of these “twins”. I had a hard time picking the first colour combination to wear but then I went with the smoky dusty purple with the beautiful iridescent glass fleck top coat and I’m glad I did. The pictures can’t capture the shinyness and sparkle of this combo – it goes crazy in the sunlight! In the shade the duochrome glass flecks show all their beauty: they shift between pink, purple and blue.

For the pictures, I used two coats of the base colour and one coat of the top coat. The application was good, even though I had to get used to the bottle with two openings and having a very heavy brush because of the other nail polish side being stuck to it. It’s not a problem though.

Today I would like to show you a combination of nail polishes I wore last week – I fell head over heels in love with it and it was perfect with the weather – finally some sun and the freezing cold temperatures disappeared too. It feels like spring is almost here! Yay!

The base colour is OPI “Planks a Lot” from the Pirates of the Carribean Collection. It is a muted or dusty purple creme colour, very shiny and opaque in two coats. Very flattering for cool skin tones.

Looking at this clean and shiny creme colour, I can’t help but thinking about how amazing glitters, flakies or other shimmery top coats would look over it – so I couldn’t resist and put one coat of Picture Polish “Festival” over it (sorry for the pic spam). Some say that all these multicoloured flakies come close to those in the famous CultNails “Clairvoyant”. Enjoy

Today I will show you one of the first nail polishes that I bought from the lovely llarowe. If you don’t know her shop yet, make sure to go check it out – she has the most beautiful nail polishes that are impossible to get anywhere else.

The nail polish I will show you today is from the HITS Mari Moon collection. There are two sets full with multichrome polishes available, and llarowe is also selling single bottles. The Mari Moon “Dreamer” is from the “Modern-Set”.

The colour shift is amazing! I can see blue, purple, pink, copper, orange, sometimes even green in it. You should check out the several Youtube-videos to be able to see the colour shift properly. I can’t stop staring at my nails!!
Also, the polish was perfectly opaque in two coats, so no dark base colour is required here – this is what makes this colour different from lots of other duo-/multichrome nail polishes.
I noticed that the colour shift is best visible in the shade. Direct sunlight or very bright light makes it appear mostly purple.

I must say that I was a little disappointed with the wear – after a day I had large areas just chipping off. But maybe a good base and top coat will help here.

I kinda lost my mojo the last couple of weeks and then I also cut in my finger and nail so that my swatch hand didn’t look very nice. But now I’m back and I can’t wait to show you some beautiful nail polishes and layerings! Today I would like to show you Zoya Lael – a beautiful very dark purple creme. This is my first Zoya, and I think I need more of those! It was nice and easy to apply, I only had to use 2 coats – 3 would have been perfect though, I had a few bald spots due to dragging. Because of the bald spots I decided to put some glitter on top after one day. I chose Kleancolor chunky holo purple (one coat) but unfortunately, it caused shrinkage on the base colour (see pictures below). Anyways, I loved this combo and I’m sure I will wear it again soon!

I really love the chunky holos from Kleancolor – I have purple, bluebell and fuchsia but I discovered that I actually only need one. The base looks different in the bottle, but on the nail over a dark base coat like Zoya Lael there is no difference at all – I put “bluebell” on my pinky finger and I really can’t see any difference.

The Out of Space LE by Catrice has been in the shops in June and July. I love the nail polish colours – 3 of them are really dark and mysterious – I still wonder why Catrice brought out this LE in summer but oh well! I bought the nail polishes and wear them now, in fall and winter – today I would like to show you C02 “Houston’s Favorite”. In the bottle the colour looks like a smokey mid-blue or petrol shimmer, with duochrome shimmer into purple. Very pretty! On the nails, the slight duochrome effect is not visible though. I used two coats, no base or top coat, and the application was actually good! I expected some bubbles but luckily no bubbles formed while drying – other Catrice nail polishes usually dry bubbly on my nails!

I love this nail polish! I think it is very unique, too – I can’t think of any dupe. The petrol/teal colour is definetely “hip” for the cold months ahead, so I’m sure I’ll be wearing this one a lot!

Oh euh – there was also candy with it but I already ate it up lol. The jewlery on the left side is so unique – I don’t think I can buy that here in Germany. She picked a set of ring, necklace and hair clips with cherries and another set also including a key chain with a beautiful bird. Can’t wait to wear those!
I must say, she is also a very gifted painter / graphic artist. The package looked amazing and had all these cute little drawings on it. Like this little fellow:

If you’re a fan of OPI on Facebook you might have noticed that they’ve been asking if their fans ever did a “Candy Mani”. First thing I did was to google it up because of course I had no clue what it was!

What I found sounded so interesting that I had to try it right away: You choose a cream base (pastel colour), then some glitter and on top a sorbet colour with a jelly / sheer finish. This gives a really cool effect and your Mani looks like candy!

Here is my first attempt! First the base colour: Nailstation “La Plage” – a wonderful, superopaque creme baby blue nail polish that dries supershiny! I won this one once from Solveig (Nailin’ it) and I’m still soo thankful for this! All pictures are clickable.

Then I added Essence “Circus Confetti” which comes pretty close to all the other chunky glitter polishes like Deborah Lippmans “Happy Birthday” or Milani “Gems”. On top of that I added one coat of Alessandro “New Moon” and I loved the outcome! It mutes the glitter but they still shine through, so it actually looks like candy! Yay!

I love it and I already have some other ideas for these kind of manicures! Here are the stars of this Manicure again:

I’m usually not very good at showing polishes matching to a particular season – and I bet I’m a little early with this one, since the name already tells me that this is a Christmas nail polish.. but I wore it recently and made pics, and I think it’s sooo pretty so I can’t wait to show it to you!

I don’t care about seasons when it comes to nail polish colours anyways. I match them to my outfits and moods, meaning that I also wear brights and neons in the middle of winter and dark fall colours in summer.

This pretty Orly nail polish came to me by chance! A friend of mine placed an order at orlybeauty.de and accidently got this one instead of the one she ordered. The shop told her to keep this nail polish – she is not into green nail polishes and gave it to me! Yay! Thank you again in case you read this! x

Do you guys wear green on your nails?

I’m so sorry for neglecting my blog the last 2 weeks! I was a very busy bee but I also swatched some beautiful nail polishes for fall so stay tuned! In my opinion, swatching and taking pictures is the fun part, while working on the pics and watermarking them is a pain in the butt.

But, here I go, with a combination of polishes that might be a little unusual but I like it! I combined a dark taupe or brown creme colour by Catrice called From Dusk To Dawn (200) with one of my favourite glitters: OPI Sparkle-icious. The reason why I like the OPI sparkle so much is because of its unique combination of glitter colours: a very nice blue and purple combined with gold – I love it! The reason why I put it on top of FDTD is because as you might be able to see in the first pictures, there was some dragging of the colour and there were some bald spots on my nails. Covering them up with glitter worked pretty well!

I am quite surprised the Catrice polish worked this time though. I applied 2 coats – usually, with all Catrice polishes, I always get bubbles and I hate that. But this time it worked out better! The glitter is also 2 coats, and then Essie Good To Go on top. I think there are better combinations than this, but it was a great way to fix the bald spots
